Nova Gyms Martial Arts & Fitness hosts a team-centered environment committed to the service of it's members. We provide classes that are ever changing as well as offer you fun new ways to get into shape and improve all areas of your physical fitness.

Nova Gyms offers one-on-one private training and group classes in Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Wrestling, Judo, and Fitness Classes (cardio kickboxing, strength & conditioning classes, and boot-camp classes) for both kids and adults. 

One of the most common reasons Nova Gyms is popular is because we offer classes for all skill levels: from the total beginner, to the future Ultimate Fighter Contender (UFC), and everyone in between. There something at this gym for everyone!

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Adults)

Until recently, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was the best kept secret for both self-defense and fitness. Now, it is taking the country by storm. Introduced to America from Brazil, Jiu-Jitsu provides a smaller, weaker opponent with the advantage against a larger assailant. These advantages are accessed through the proper use of leverage, pressure, and joint manipulation, all without throwing a punch!

We practice sport focused Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu combined with traditional, self-defense focused Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to provide our students with the tools they need in thrive in the street, or in the competition ring. Nova Gyms Martial Arts & Fitness has programs at both Wisconsin locations to accommodate any practitioner looking to learn this grappling based martial art and excel in it. Our BJJ program has been specially developed for all skill levels which starts with a fundamental program for new practitioners, and even offers advanced classes for students with prior grappling experience.

Our locations provide our students with flexible class times throughout the day starting as early as 6am! As featured and mentioned in the Jiu Jitsu Times article “A Dojo Divided”, Nova Gyms Martial Arts & Fitness offers our members the opportunity to learn from various, high level Jiu-Jitsu coaches, all from different backgrounds! Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Kids)

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is hands down - THE BEST - non-violent, self defense for children and teens because it provides a smaller, weaker opponent with the advantage against a larger assailant, or bully ALL WITHOUT HAVING TO THROW A PUNCH (punching is a no-no is most schools around the country today)!

Our kids program Jiu-Jitsu program teaches kids ages 4-12 years old take-downs, falling, controls, and “tap-outs” as we eliminate the punching/kicking element of the self-defense equation and focus mainly on grappling.

Our typical classes provide a demonstration of techniques and moves that the students learn a each day in our beginner, and advanced kids programs offered at our gyms in Oak Creek and Pewaukee, WI. After thorough preparation, our students implement these new techniques in a controlled and supervised sparring session (called “rolling”), where they are able to practice their learned techniques against resisting opponents. Jiu-Jitsu practice removes dangerous punches and kicks from our training so students can spar during each training session which increases their proficiency in this sport with each class they take. Kids ages 4-12 years old will enjoy grappling and learning how to use their bjj moves with their peers in our kids martial arts program.

Kids are promoted in our schools using the IBJJF ranking system as they progress in our martial arts program where they will are ranked with belts based on their proficiency, time practicing bjj, and age. In addition to our classes many of our students participate in both local, and regional jiu jitsu tournaments where they have the opportunity to win belts, medals, and samurai swords with a succesful showing on the mats. Tournaments are not necessary or mandatory but many of our kids do compete.

Most kids spend too much time behind the TV or their phones these days, fortunately our kids jiu jitsu program combines enough mental and physical stimulation to keep your children engaged, active, healthy, and most importantly confident with themselves. Fitness Kickboxing

Fitness kickboxing is one of the most popular fitness trends to hit gyms in recent years because it’s fun, dynamic for weight loss, and let’s be honest, it sure beats getting on a treadmill!

Our fitness kickboxing class is a heavy bag focused group workout that uses REAL Muay Thai punching and kicking bags to give our members a realistic method of practicing their techniques while using the 80 pound heavy bags as exercise tools. Each class delivers a combination of aerobics, martial arts, and boxing to provide you with a full body workout. This 45 minute class is great for beginners or even the advanced kick-boxer because it works your entire body, mind, and cardio vascular systems. This method of cardio training has even helped some of our members lose over 100 lbs!

You do not need any experience to take these cardio boxing classes, there will always be a coach with you to improve your technique in each class. We welcome students of all skill levels seeking to learn how how to throw combinations on the heavy bags, get a great workout, have some fun, and blow of some serious stream in this upbeat, positive vibes, fitness class.

MMA Technique, Pads, & Fitness

Increase your focus, confidence, coordination, speed, and balance in this 45 minute to one hour pads and technique class. Our MMA technique and fitness classes provides our students with realistic, real world applications to striking techniques, while at the same time provides an outlet for students to burn a ton of calories. This class is available to all level students (ages 13 and up) and will teach you the details and fundamentals of Muay Thai, Boxing, and Kickboxing on pads in this technique orientated class.

This partner focused class delivers an eclectic system of moves and drills that keep you moving and keep you thinking! In each class you will learn offensive and defensive elements of boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai while as learning how to hold boxing focus mits, kick-shields, and muay thai pads for your partner.

Because our pads and technique classes focus on the details and proper technique this is a great way to sharpen your skills for your next fitness kickboxing class in Oak Creek.


Strength & Conditioning - Fitness

Train like a mixed martial artist using non-traditional fitness equipment and body weight exercises to transform your body. Our strength and conditioning class is a 45 minute, small group, circuit-style workout which combines mixed martial arts movements, techniques, and exercises that will get anyone fit like a fighter.

Whether you are an athlete looking to perform in your sport better, or someone who has taken some time off from the gym, this class will show you results quickly and help your grow. Although this class allows you to you go at your own pace, there will always be a coach by your side making sure you are performing each exercise properly and helping you get through the entire workout. It’s like having a personal trainer without paying the high cost!

These strength and conditioning classes are offered at our Oak Creek location and are designed for individuals looking to lose weight, build and tone muscle, and strengthen their core. These metabolic circuits consist of power training, plyometrics, cardio, muscular endurance, and core development. After a number of our members reached out to us with interest of building a mixed martial arts team here in Oak Creek we immediately started speaking with the coaches so that we could begin offering this program this spring in Oak Creek. After all, since opening our gym in 2014 we have built a solid foundation of striking and jiu jitsu into our students core competencies. Now we are excited for the opportunity to continue to develop ourselves, and our community as martial artists.

MMA Classes - Spring Schedule & Coaches:

MMA Classes taught by Rob Smith are Tuesday & Thursday at 6pm - 7pm and Saturday at 11 am - 12pm. 

MMA "Breakfast Club" Classes with Kaz are Wednesday & Friday  6am - 7am.

A typical MMA Class might look something like this:

*3 Rounds -Shadow Boxing Warmup

*6 Rounds (3 each) - heavy bag /ground and pound bag drills
*10 minutes - Jab/Cross shoot Partner Drill
*6 Rounds MMA Guard Drills
*15 Minutes Wall and Brawl/Dirty Boxing Drills

1 minute rounds....30 second rest between rounds.....1 minute transition between drills....roughly 10-15 minutes of instruction time (+ rest period corrections)

Coach Kaz says to "expect a lot of Wrestling, Grappling and Striking inspired drilling that will be tied up in a bow with a good dose of short interval situational live ‘Goes’ ......cuz, ‘Drills Build Skills!’” 

Coach Rob Smith says someone in his MMA class can expect “allot of situational drilling and moving with strikes, grappling, and kickboxing techniques with our partners.  We don’t need to worry about getting hurt in these classes as they are meant for drilling and creating active muscle memory and reaction based movements to create good habits for MMA and self defense”.

Equipment Needed - MMA training gloves, MMA shin pads, and a pair of 16 oz boxing / sparring gloves.
